IIA NZ Internal Audit Future Leaders Mentorship Forum

Welcome to the IIA NZ Internal Audit Future Leaders Mentorship Forum

Purpose and Audience Fit:

The IIA NZ Internal Audit Future Leaders Mentorship Programme (previously the Auditor in Charge Mentorship Programme) is designed for internal auditors who are:

  • Operating as Auditor in Charge or in similar supervisory roles
  • Seen by their organisations as future leaders within internal audit
  • Ready to deepen their leadership capability, professional judgement and influence.

These workshops aim to:

  • Build leadership confidence and capability in planning, leading and delivering internal audit engagements
  • Strengthen practical skills in stakeholder management, communication and influencing, particularly in challenging or politically sensitive environments
  • Provide a peer forum where participants can share real-world challenges, lessons learned and good practice across sectors
  • These workshops complement the IIA NZ Training Programme (with Massey University), creating a clear, staged pathway that bridges the journey from Emerging Auditor through to Audit Leader.

By including both NZ and Pacific-based members in the same session, we also want to encourage cross-jurisdictional sharing, broaden perspectives, and reflect the wider IIA NZ territory we now support.

Who should attend?

This workshop is geared for IIA NZ members who are currently operating at "Auditor in Charge" or equivalent future-leader level. Typically, senior internal auditors with supervisory responsibilities (e.g. leading engagements, overseeing small teams, or owning key audit areas) and who have at least 4 years' internal audit experience.

If you do not fit the above criteria (for example, you are earlier in your internal audit career or not yet leading engagements), please register onto the Emerging Auditor Mentorship stream, which is specifically designed to support auditors in the early stages of their development.
