Notice of IIA NZ Life Member and Fellow Nominations 2026
IIA NZ is pleased to open nominations for both Life Member and Fellow Designation recognition for 2026, awarded by the IIA NZ Board of Directors. These honours recognise individuals who have made a significant and sustained contribution to IIA NZ, the internal audit profession, and the advancement of governance, risk and assurance.
Life Member and Fellow are important forms of recognition conferred by IIA NZ on current financial members who have made a meaningful contribution to the Institute and the profession.
Life Membership is the highest honour awarded by IIA NZ and recognises distinguished and sustained contribution to the cause of internal auditing in New Zealand or elsewhere over the course of a career.
Fellowship recognises members who have provided meritorious service to the Institute and demonstrated meaningful leadership, advocacy and service to the profession.
Both designations are considered through a formal annual nominations process in accordance with the IIA NZ Constitution.
Nominations open: Tuesday, 24 March 2026
Nominations close: Sunday, 12 April 2026, midnight
Important review dates
· Fellow nominations reviewed by Membership Committee: 21 April 2026
· Fellow and Life Member nominations considered by Board: 30 April 2026
· Outcomes announced: IIA NZ Gala Awards, 3 November 2026
Important note
All nominees for either category must be current financial members at the time of nomination. Acknowledgement of nominations will be provided to the nominator in writing only, and no other correspondence will be entered into. For further information concerning the Life Member and Fellow designations and the relevant criteria, please refer to the IIA NZ Constitution and the IIA NZ History page, which lists current Life and Fellow members.
The nominations process will remain aligned to the Constitution and applied consistently across both categories. Any actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest, whether arising from nominees or from those involved in the nominations and assessment process, including the assessors, must be declared and appropriately managed. The Board also notes that opening nominations does not oblige it to award either category in any given year. This process is undertaken afresh each year, and nominations are not carried over from one year to the next. Confidentiality will be maintained throughout the process until outcomes are formally released.
